Multi-cultural centers for youth

ELEM operates a wide array of special programs for adolescents from diverse cultural backgrounds, such as youth and young adults from the Arab and Bedouin societies, new immigrants from Ethiopia and Russia, and other diverse backgrounds. The purpose of these programs is to try and understand the youth's unique situations and integrate them into Israeli society, while preserving their cultural identity. As part of this program, there is one multi-cultural center in Acre and two in Lod tailored to Arab youth and young adults. Among the activities that ELEM conducts in the multicultural centers, are: activities for strengthening and sustaining Arab culture and tradition, parent & youth cross-generational groups, educational assistance, vocational training, an entrepreneurship program, events with cultural and sports figures in Arab society, driving lessons, legal assistance and more. 

This program is implemented in conjunction with the Ministry of Welfare, the municipality of Lod, and private philanthropy.

ELEM was founded in 1983 and since then has become a nationwide organization, specializing in identifying the hardships that characterize the daily lives of youth and young adults in distress in Israel, and in developing and implementing relevant and innovative solutions to deal with these hardships.
