PeacePlayers International - Middle East

Based on the premise that children who play together can learn to live together, PeacePlayers International - Middle East (PPI - ME) uses the game of basketball to unite, educate and inspire Arab and Jewish youth.

PPI - ME, a locally run branch of the global PeacePlayers International, uses the game of basketball to unite, educate and inspire Arab and Jewish young people in communities such as the Jerusalem Area, the Center Region and the North. Through our flagship project, the Twinned Basketball Clubs, Arab and Jewish children, who would not otherwise have opportunities for positive interaction, find a common goal - winning. PPI - ME capitalize on educational gains inherent in the game with the help of a Peace Education Curriculum, developed in conjunction with the worldwide consultancy the Arbinger Institute, which takes leading conflict transformation strategies and adapts them to the basketball court, making them both accessible and applicable to the youth participants. The curriculum helps children see beyond their stereotypes and fears and instead to "see people as people." PPI - ME achieves this through frequent, year-round activities serving children between the ages 6 and 18.
