"Sons of Sakhnin United" presented at Tribeca Film Festival

"Sons of Sakhnin United", a documentary funded by the Andrea and Charles Bronfman Philanthropies, the Fohs Foundation, Brian Lurie and others debuted at the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival.

The 90 minute documentary tells the story of the underdog and unlikely Israeli Jewish/Arab soccer team, Bnei Sakhnin, that rose from poverty to become champions of Israel. The goal of the documentary is to highlight the challenges and opportunities Israel faces as a Jewish and democratic state through a common middle eastern denominator -- soccer/"futbol."

On Thursday, May 3, 2008, the Andrea and Charles Bronfman Philanthropies offered a Q&A session with the Directors and Producers of the documentary.
